Food has inspired many recent makeup trends on social media. After "donut skin," "espresso makeup" and "latte makeup," it’s been the pomegranate’s turn to take centre stage, with the "pomegranate girl makeup" trend taking TikTok by storm for the past few days. The new beauty look promises a natural finish and sun-kissed effect.

Similar to "strawberry makeup," this new trend sets aside strawberries in favour of pomegranates, a fruit with hues ranging from bright to paler tones of red. This beauty look is characterized by the application of blush in rose-mauve shades, and matching the colour on the lips. This is paired with a few fake freckles and well-brushed eyebrows.

A few years ago, a similar trend focused on eyes, finishing them with iridescent pomegranate-colored shades, and matching the lips. Today, it’s evolving to suit today’s beauty trends, with an emphasis on blush. A subtle cross between "sunkissed makeup" and "strawberry makeup," this beauty look enhances the complexion with the natural look of flushed cheeks and a shimmering smooth, dewy texture, reminiscent of the fruit.

Replicating this trend is simple and involves three steps. First, a bright red blush is applied to the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the eyelids and above the eyebrows, before being blended in. Next, fake freckles are applied to the nose and cheekbones with a felt-tip makeup pen. For the lips, a light outline with a pink pencil is followed by a light application of the blush used previously. Finally, add a touch of gloss to make them shine!

With the "pomegranate girl makeup" look, the Northern hemisphere’s summer is all about freshness and simplicity.
